I've always loved Christine Cushing's style. It suits my own philosophy of easy to make, using fresh & local ingredients, and obviously, tasty! I've been a fan since I bought her book
Fearless in the Kitchen
years ago. In fact, I can't believe I never wrote about it before,
but I corrected that earlier today. I couldn't help myself when visiting Toronto and checking out a favorite kitchen store there. If only they'd open a
Kitchen Stuff Plus here in Halifax. At least I can now order on line.
But I digress... While there, I saw a copy of Christine's latest book
Pure Food
and had to have it.
Like her earlier book, she makes it easy for beginners... and those who have been cooking for a long time but not enjoying it...not to mention those of us who love her style, her philosophy and her delicious recipes. This time around she does set the book up in a more traditional way - with chapters that star salads, dips & starters; fish & seafood; poultry, meat, grains and starch... check out my adaptation of one of her dishes
It's delicious. then there's veggies& sides, and lastly fruit & desserts. I can't tell you how many recipes I've earmarked, but it's lots. I think I'll be whipping up a batch of chewy oatmeal cranberries cookies later.. or maybe zucchini and olive oil biscuits... or both.
Bottom Line: the recipes are easy, healthy, and have lots of flavour. I'll be using it often.
